The Washington State Young Adult Review Group (WASHYARG) is a regional organization of school and public librarians and other individuals interested in reviewing books, magazines and other media appropriate for teenagers. The organization also sponsors the Evergreen Teen Book Award and members of the committee are part of WASHYARG.

WASHYARG receives materials from over 140 publishers for members to read and review. Selected items are presented orally at the quarterly meetings and all reviews are compiled and published in the WashRag. This publication is mailed to members and has recently also been published online. Members pay $25 per school year for the right to review (and keep) the books and to receive the WashRag.

Meetings are held at the King County Library System’s Service Center, 960 Newport Way NW, Issaquah from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Evergreen Teen Book Award Committee meets immediately after.

May 2024 Book Reviews – Deadline December 1

  • Instead of completing the usual form, you can enter just your review on the spreadsheet of titles taken in March and reviewed in May. If you need to change any other information, please email teresa.jensenx@gmail.com.
  • We will discuss the best way to enter reviews at the meeting in September.
  • If you forgot to enter your reviews last month, see the “missed reviews” tab on the spreadsheet.

September 2024 New Book Titles – Deadline December 1

  • Enter the titles of books received on or after the SEPTEMBER 2024 meeting or any titles not reported earlier. These books will be discussed at our DECEMBER 2024 meeting.
  • NOTE: If you picked up several books in a nonfiction series, please enter them on this form.
